Homeschool Wool-Working Day: Scouring the Fleece

Step into the old rhythm of fiber arts as students roll up their sleeves for the very first stage of turning raw wool into something wonderfully workable. This hands-on session focuses on scouring: washing freshly shorn wool to lift away grease, dirt, and the wild little hitchhikers that come with a sheep’s life outdoors.

Over the course of 1 to 1.5 hours, students will plunge into tubs of warm water, lift dripping handfuls of fleece, and move it through several washes as they prepare the wool for the next step in its transformation. It’s a tactile, splash-happy experience that feels a bit like uncovering treasure beneath the suds.
Participants will get wet and dirty, and that’s part of the adventure. Once the wool has dried, we’ll host a follow-up events where students can continue their journey into carding, spinning, and dyeing.

This event is limited to 10 Participants

$10 participant
$7 Chaperone

$5 to be a viewer ( Views will not participate; they will just be able to watch and ask questions)

Tickets are non-refundable | They can be transferred to another Homeschool Day within the calendar year
